Making It Right By Doing It Wrong

November 20, 2011 by wal66
In overtime of the Vandy/Tennessee game the Vol's intercepted a pass and ran it in for the winning score, only they didn't.

Due to the position of the sideline judge it looked as if the player's knee touched and the official could be seen coming in to mark the spot and heard blowing his whistle.

Obviously Tennessee is celebrating and there was much noise but the head official came back to the spot talked with the official who made the call and then announced that the player was down by contact. That's all well and good but wrong cause the player... More...

Wal's 2011 College Football Thread

August 21, 2011 by wal66
I do this every year for all listed games each week in college football. Sometimes it helps sometimes it doesn?t but I see no reason to not continue offering it to the boards.

I don?t use this information the first couple of weeks of the season because the teams need to establish themselves before true power ranking can take hold.

Listed below are the games and the adjusted line for each. When I personally start using this I have an additional factor that goes into the equation and require at least a... More...

Athletic Bios

I think most of us here have played sports at one time or another and some may still be involved. So let?s hear about the sport?s you played and the memories you have.

Football: I went out for JV football my 8th grade year but had a disagreement with the coach and elected to not play. I wanted to play quarterback and he wanted me to play line. This continued throughout my high school career so I continued to boycott organized football.

It was not the end of my storied football past though. From 1982-1984 I... More...

If Life Gave You A Mulligan

May 18, 2011 by wal66
There will be some here who are doing exactly what they want to be doing but for others they had to make a choice long ago to do what they had to do even though they would rather have been doing something else.

I know that was the case with me. I mean I jumped at the chance to work for the city when it came around and I took classes and moved up the ladder with each license I acquired.

Now 23 years into it I look back and regret everyday that I played it so safe. I mean yeah my pension is safe (for now) but I am so bored and there really aren?t anymore avenues in which I can advance.

If you had the chance to do it over what career path would you have chosen?

Question Time JJ

May 7, 2011 by wal66
JJ, you?ve been around as long as just about anyone and longer than most. You have either posted at or lurked at probably every gambling related forum out there. Who are the all-time top 5 posters when you combine sports knowledge, gambling selections, industry awareness and general posting contributions?

Obviously being around for so long and seeing posters come and go with regularity what 5 posters of the new guys do you see joining the likes of the 5 posters you will name above?

In keeping with the theme here, what have been your top 5 all-time personal forum e-battles?

Who would you name as top 5 all-time forum warriors?

Who would you list as top 5 all-time worst/weakest forum warriors?

Help Please

October 26, 2010 by wal66
Guys I am going to ask a question here that might be so obvious it sounds silly but I swear I am having a complete mental block and the question is sincere.

Pinnacle list money lines differently than I am accustom to. I understand standard money lines but the way Pinnacle does it is absolutely straining what limited brain cells I have left.

Example:

Miami -1.5 (1.971) money line (1.877)
Boston +1.5 (1.935) money line (2.030)

Miami -1.5 (-110) money line (-125)
Boston +1.5 (-110) money line (+105)

I get -110, -135, +210, I know what I am doing with money lines this way but 1.563 or 2.010 I am lost.

How do I convert 1.935 into traditional money line?

Wal's Daily Hockey Options 10/18/10

October 18, 2010 by wal66
Hockey is new to me, I mean I don?t know what the positions are, well I know what a goalie is but that?s just about where it ends. I don?t know who the players are or which players are more valuable on which teams. I don?t know which key injuries effect which teams more drastically. Basically I don?t know hockey so I am approaching it strictly from a stats and line movement perspective.

Listed below are several options that I have capped and like but since this is new I don?t want to play the field just yet. I want... More...

Players Talk vs Due Diligence

October 12, 2010 by wal66
It?s not like its any major revelation or anything and I am certainly not the first person to realize this but I think Players Talk is seriously hurting my bottom line.

Obviously it isn?t Players Talk but the fact that I allow myself to spend too much time participating in the drama/entertainment portions of Players Talk instead of using that time to focus on capping. Also it?s not just Players Talk it?s all the other forums and other distractions we allow to interfere in taking time away from researching the games.

I don?t know if it?s the same for... More...
